Student & Family Resources
Whether you're new to our school or a longtime Amherst Elementary School family, we want to provide the resources you need to achieve success.
This is a central hub for students and families to easily access information for navigating the school and school day, including the student handbook, schedule, and school activities!

Enrollment
Amherst Elementary School serves students in Pre-K through 5th grade.
Enrollment hours for students who are new to the district are from 8:00 a.m. until 2 p.m. on full school days and during specified hours in the summer months. Enrollment must be completed in person by a parent or legal guardian.

Daily Schedule
At Amherst Elementary, our school day begins at 7:45 a.m. Students arriving after this time are considered tardy and must check in at the front office. Dismissal for Kindergarten through 5th grade begins at 2:45 p.m., and dismissal for Pre-K begins at 1:15 p.m.

After School Care
Kids' Place is Amherst's only on-site after-care provider, but several other organizations offer pickup and transportation to off-site programs.

Academics
At Amherst Elementary School, we are committed to helping every student succeed. All students are regularly screened in reading, math, and writing to be sure they are on track. If a student needs extra support, we provide targeted instruction and interventions designed to meet their specific needs.
We only use high-quality instructional materials, small group learning, and ongoing assessments to give each student the right level of support at the right time. Our goal is to ensure every child has the tools they need to grow academically and thrive in school and beyond.

Student Supports
The entire staff of Amherst Elementary School is committed to establishing an atmosphere in which children will feel safe, secure, and happy so they maximize their opportunities to learn and achieve. The school has trained counselors and a social worker on staff.

Library / Media Center
The Amherst Elementary School Media Center is a hub for student learning, reading, and discovery. In addition to the school library, teachers may maintain individual collections of age-appropriate books in their classrooms to support literacy and foster a love of reading.
Support Organization
Amherst Elementary School is proudly supported by Amherst Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization.
The purpose of Amherst Elementary School PTO is to enhance and support the educational experience at Amherst Elementary School, to develop a closer connection between school and home by encouraging parent involvement, and to improve the environment at Amherst Elementary School through volunteer and financial support.
